The Vice President and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) will work closely with the Ridgeview Medical Center President/CEO, Board of Directors, the organization's executive team peers, the employed and independent medical staff and clinical leadership. The CMO will be integrally involved in and provide critical physician input into the strategic development and direction of the organization, its joint ventures, and relationships with physicians within the system. The CMO will play a key role in overseeing physician quality and performance improvement in all clinical settings. Advocacy for patient safety and quality are of paramount importance.
Works to improve patient safety, improve clinical outcomes, improve transitions of care, and improve and create efficiencies in care delivery.
Works to champion information technology adoption by clinicians by partnering with Information Technology leadership and senior management. CMO will act as an administrative liaison to employed and independent Providers utilizing information technology in the hospital and clinic settings.
Champions the use of specific clinical protocols and reduction in variation in the treatment of specific illnesses.
Collaborates with peers to identify clinical indicators of quality, to develop measurement systems and analyses of data as a means to educate leadership and the Medical Staff around improving patient outcomes.
Communicates Board, Medical Staff and Management initiatives to the entire Medical Staff using a variety of methods including Annual Medical Staff Meeting presentations.
Collaborates with senior leadership and Physician partners to assure Ridgeview is in compliance with CMS Conditions of Participation and accreditor Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and the Minnesota Department of Health.
Collaborates with leadership to ensure competency and quality of Ridgeview Clinic clinicians and Medical Staff Physicians.
Participates in budget development as a part of the Senior Leadership team.
Partners with leadership to identify appropriate cost-saving opportunities within clinical departments and, in conjunction with operations and nursing leadership, ensures that safety and quality of care remain a priority while reducing cost per unit of service.
In collaboration with leadership peers, supports Ridgeview's accountable care models and care model redesign aimed at delivering on the IHI Triple Aim.
In cooperation with the President/CEO, establishes goals and objectives for areas of clinical influence and responsibility.
In cooperation with the VP/Chief Nursing Officer, coordinates and implements safety and quality improvement activities for clinical Service Lines.
Serves on and or leads committees within the hospital and health system as assigned.
Assists the President/CEO and Senior Leadership in exploring new areas for future program development and business opportunities in order to increase market share and continually improve safety and quality of care.
Working with the President/CEO, Senior Management, and appropriate leaders of the Medical Staff, investigates and provides reports on complaints related to Ridgeview physicians and the Medical Staff and participates in risk management/avoidance activities.
