Job Description: Assist the Director of Nursing assumes administrative responsibility for the Nursing Department on a 24-hour basis. Provides support and continuity of effective administrative leadership. Maintains the overall hospital functioning in the absence of the DON. Serves as a resource person and role model by demonstrating professionalism and the ability to use the nursing process in problem identification and problem solving activities. Assists and encourages Nursing personnel in professional growth and development. Maintains continuity of departmental and hospital Policies and Procedures and fosters communications among all departments. Assist the Director of Nursing in contributing to the hospital philosophy, objectives, educational and performance improvement efforts, while providing supervision to the Nursing staff. Ensuring the facility's Nursing programs are in compliance with all regulatory agencies, JCAHO, and state and federal agencies.
