Infection Control Nurse
In this role, you will coordinate an integrated and comprehensive infection surveillance, prevention, and process improvement program in order to advance patient safety and to prevent infections within the Mid-Atlantic Region Service Area, invasive procedures will be monitored per the region-wide Infection Control Annual Strategic Work Plan. You will be responsible for objectively and systematically assessing, monitoring, evaluating, and improving the processes that affect the quality of patient care while ensuring compliance with all standards, regulatory, and accreditation requirements. You will improve patient outcomes by preventing infections.
Qualifications Include:
- At least five years of experience or combination of experience in an acute care hospital or ambulatory setting with knowledge of medical and surgical procedures, treatments, and patient management
- Background in infection prevention or control, employee health, risk management, and patient safety; preferably in a managed care setting
- A bachelor’s degree in nursing; a master’s degree is preferred
- A current Virginia, Maryland, or DC RN license
- Certification in Infection Prevention and Control within 18 months of hire
- Knowledge of federal and state health care laws and regulations
- Knowledge and experience applying quality improvement techniques and facilitating compliance with accreditation standards
- Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
- Skilled in problem-solving and collaborating with other professionals
- Previous demonstrated experience in successfully implementing major patient safety and/or quality improvement initiatives or projects
