Geisinger is seeking a Neurosurgery NP/PA (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join it’s growing Neurosurgery department at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center campus located in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania.
The ideal candidate will perform the following: · Diagnostic and therapeutic tasks and assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the plan · Assist the physicians in the pre-operative care and work up of patients including writing routine admission orders, arranging appropriate laboratory and imaging studies and consultations. · Participate in the post-operative care of patients in the clinic setting and reporting back any complications to the physician. · Patient advocate in the medical care system, serving as confidant, advisor, and liaison between patients and the physicians. · Call requirements and responding to Trauma and Neurosurgical Stroke.
The NP/PA will report directly to the surgeon for all clinical related responsibilities and the chief physician assistant, Neuroscience or in absence the Director, or Associate Vice President, Neurosciences, for all non-clinical administrative responsibilities.
The successful Physician Assistant must be a graduate of a ARC-approved physician assistant program, eligible or certified by the National Commission for the Certification of Physician Assistants and eligible or certified by the State Board of Medicine.
The successful Nurse Practitioner candidate will have a certificate of completion from an approved program for Nurse Practitioners and must be eligible for or certified by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing. Must be certified to work with all patient population age groups.
