The primary purpose of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) is to practice in an expanded role to provide healthcare in a variety of settings. Core functions include, but are not limited to, diagnosing and treating acute and chronic healthcare problems, performing adult care check-ups, and prescribing medication and treatment. May diagnose and manage minor trauma, including suturing and other approved procedures. The NP may teach health promotion and disease prevention.
