NP/PA, Behavioral Health Team, Cecil Campus

ChristianaCare is hiring for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to work in our outpatient psychiatry office at our Cecil Campus in Elkton, MD. The qualified candidate would be a part of a team of Psychiatrists and therapists providing short-term therapy to their own panel of referred patients. The hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm. The selected candidate will enhance the quality of patient care within the Behavioral Health service through the provision of psychotherapy, psycho-education and medication evaluation and management for adult ambulatory patients. Patients are referred to the behavioral health outpatient ambulatory setting from our inpatient sites as well as from our primary care outpatient practices. We provide expert evaluation and management of behavioral health disorders using evidenced based approaches and collaboration with providers in house and in the community.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide psychiatric direct patient care as directed by the Chair of Psychiatry and supervising psychiatrist at the outpatient practice offices.
• Performs thorough and accurate psychiatric assessments on patients requiring psychiatric consultation in the general hospital and Adult Medicine outpatient service.
• Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide care appropriate to adult and geriatric patient population including the ability to obtain and interpret information to identify diagnoses and to provide the appropriate treatment.
• Performs case management services including coordination with medical staff, nursing staff and outside providers, formulates the treatment plan along with the clinical team.
• Documents in a timely, accurate and concise manner, using proper terminology, on department and CCHS forms, adheres to established guidelines.
• Collaborates with the attending Psychiatrist evaluating treatment outcome.
• Utilizes teaching/learning principles coupled with an expert clinical knowledge base to provide education to patients and their families.
• Documents in a timely, accurate and concise manner, using proper terminology, on department and CCHS forms, adheres to established guidelines.
• Works collaboratively with third party payors, Managed Care companies or other contracted concerns to insure that quality patient care is maintained and managed with effectiveness and efficiency.
• Participates in Performance Improvement activities for the department, actively seeking to promote optimum patient care through participation in designated activities for improved performance, outcome measures and patient satisfaction.

Education and Experience Requirements :

• Master's Degree in Nursing.
• Graduate from an accredited Physicians Assistants program with NCCPA certification
• Licensure or license eligible for State of Delaware
• Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner preferred
• Minimum of (3) three years' experience working in a behavioral health setting preferred.
