NP/PA, Cardiovascular Critical Care Team

Christiana Care Cardiology is looking for a full-time Nurse Practitioner or a Physician Assistant to join their expanding Cardiovascular Critical Care team! You will be collaborating with a dynamic team including Cardiac Intensivists, Fellows, Residents, APC's, and nurses to manage critically ill cardiac patients within the 16-bed Cardiovascular Critical Care Complex located at Christiana Hospital. This is an acute care position working both 10 and 12 hours shifts, with day, night, weekend and holiday requirements.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists intensivists with triage, admissions and consultation of patients directed to the intensive care unit.
Actively co-manages critically ill patients including ventilator management, initiation of vasoactive medications, management of shock syndromes, acute myocardial infarction, arrhythmias, bleeding disorders, sepsis, postoperative patients and other cardiac disorders.
Appropriate and timely documentation in electronic medical record, including orders.
Able to work in a dynamic and challenging environment as a member of the multidisciplinary care team. Demonstrates decisive judgment. Ability to also work independently encouraged.
Participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds; includes review and modification of care plans.
Performs life-saving procedures as appropriate. May also include performing advanced procedures outside of the critical care unit as required for patient safety.
Participates in Code Team, serves as the initial primary provider when attending to emergent patient needs on medical/surgical patients during off hours on the unit and in the absence of the critical care attending.
Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, and quality and safety standards.
Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams.

Requirements:
Completion of a master's degree program in nursing or as physician assistant. Board certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner or Physician's Assistant.
Licensure as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner as set forth by the Delaware Board of Nursing OR Licensure as a Physician's Assistant by the Delaware Medical Board
Prefer at least 2-3 years of experience working in an acute care setting; previous experience in cardiology highly desired.
Experience in airway management, central and arterial line cannulation, and ultrasound skills strongly desired.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
