This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Nurse Practitioner functions as the Outpatient Mental Health clinician for Behavioral Medicine Service (BMS) at the Evansville Indiana Health Care Center (EHCC). Nurse Practitioner duties will include providing general clinical psychiatric services to Veterans, including on call and walk in services at the Evansville Indiana Health Care Center (EHCC). Services will be provided on-site at this location with some services provided via telemedicine. Services will also be provided at other locations as needed. Duties include general psychiatric care of adult Veterans and may include, but are not limited to, conducting diagnostic evaluations, psychiatric consults, medication management, and individual or group psychotherapy. The work requires an administrative and practical knowledge as a Nurse Practitioner. The Nurse Practitioner must possess the analytical ability to research, assemble, and compile information and data, evaluate the results against appropriate standards, and recommend corrective action where indicated. The Nurse Practitioner duties will include Outpatient Mental Health and Primary Care Mental Health Integration (PCMHI)/Behavioral Health Lab (BHL) providing the full range of psychological services to Veterans referred by the clinic staff members including completion of E-Consults, rapid assessment, diagnosis and (where appropriate) referral for specialized psychiatric services; brief individual, family or couples counseling, time-limited psychotherapy or psychoeducational groups and consultation for the PC team in the clinical management of their patients. In addition, the incumbent will work within the Behavioral Health Laboratory (BHL) to assist in the delivery of specific evidence-based services to PC patients. These services will involve working with other supportive services, assisting with adherence to national guidelines by providing PC physicians with "on-time, on-target" information and collaborating in making appropriate evidence-based care decisions. Duties also include outpatient mental health care, same day access, walk-ins, day call and hospital discharge follow up care. The Nurse Practitioner is required to exercise judgment in the selection of or adaptation of standard and accepted clinical theories, techniques, and practices in treating patients or developing new techniques and programs for the treatment of specialized problems or clinical populations.
