VMG Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Hospital Medicine

The Department of Pediatrics at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine is seeking a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join the Center for Child Protection & Well-Being at Vanderbilt. The Department is committed to building a vibrant and culturally diverse community of faculty that best reflects the patients and families that we serve. Individuals from underrepresented groups in medicine are especially encouraged to apply. The Nurse Practitioner will work under the supervision of Child Abuse Pediatricians (CAP) on the CARE Team. The CARE Team is a multidisciplinary team that provides medical evaluations for children who may be victims of child maltreatment.
Provide clinical expertise to individual patients/families and/or groups of patients/families by providing direct and indirect patient care for inpatients and outpatients. This includes coordination of care with the primary team and other specialists involved, communications with the investigating agencies, and performing consultation reports. Participation in the on-call rotation with the CAPs is required.
Ability to review, summarize, and annotate medical records
Provide court testimony throughout Middle Tennessee
Collaborate with the health care team in assessing, designing, implementing, and evaluating population-based programs of patient care to enhance high quality-cost effective patient outcomes.
Provide leadership in education and clinical staff development; collaborate with other health professionals, community agencies, and education resources to establish education programs to address specific needs of populations of patients. This may also include local and regional travel.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings involving presentations of cases
Demonstrate collaborative leadership with researchers, other health professionals, divisions, and departments to generate knowledge and make practice changes based on research findings.
Demonstrate accountability for professional responsibilities and self-development.
Maintain CARE Team database in REDCap
Perform other duties as required.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend call.
Master's Degree (or equivalent experience) and < 1 year experience. 12 months of nursing experience preferred; Inpatient acute care advanced practice nursing experience desirable
Prefer National Specialty Board Certification, TN APN certificate/certificate of fitness to prescribe, eligible for DEA

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills Ability to work collaboratively with team members of different disciplines Licensure: Current TN Advanced Practice Nursing Certifications: PNP, Primary or Acute Care by national certifying body acceptable to the State of Tennessee Board of Nursing
