The Principal IS Trainer - Tapestry has primary responsibilities for the development and implementation of the training program. They work to design, build, and deliver innovative curriculum and learning environments, including virtual and eLearning. They coordinate implementation and assist in performing end user support of new and upgraded applications affecting workflows throughout the MemorialCare campuses. In addition, the Principal IS Trainer - Tapestry ensures alignment of all application training activities with transformation objectives. They identify and manage resistance to change and provide recommendations for improvements to achieve education goals.
The Principal IS Trainer - Tapestry works closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and team members on all aspects of projects to assure project deadlines are met and to ensure all training reflects operational workflows, policies and procedures. They act as a key bridge between the training team and end user population by leveraging strong operational connections to develop effective communication pathways between Information Services (IS) and various operational groups. They manage post live ongoing site-based training efforts to maintain a baseline level of correctness beyond the classroom.

- Pursues new developments in education and training methodologies and implements as deemed appropriate.
- Identifies changes in workflow and develops curriculum and training plans to support the changes. Identifies new opportunities for process and system improvements within the Tapestry and Rev Cycle applications.
- Participates in workflow design and system build to gain in-depth knowledge of operational needs and ensure the system design supports those Tapestry and managed care workflows.
- Promotes a climate for the participant that encourages learning and self-motivation through the application of principles of adult learning.
- Consult and develop relationships with managers and users to identify performance gaps and understand and interpret clinical and non-clinical workflows, processes, and terminology to translate information into educationally sound training content around managed care work flows.
- Create and validate training tools which support the ongoing education of system users, and measure user competency as well as effectiveness of the training program. Assists in developing, modifying, and validating training curriculum, content, materials, and environments to meet the needs of MemorialCare’s end users.
- Conducts comprehensive criterion based educational evaluation of assigned content to assure optimal end user performance in Tapestry activites.
- Conducts needs assessment to determine training solutions; designs, modifies, or assists in the development of customized adult educational programs.
- Coordinate closely with analysts to develop proper training in consideration of end user’s roles to ensure effective training in advance of software updates and new releases within Tapestry and Rev Cycle applications.
- Serves as ambassador of the new system to the end users. Acts as a point of contact for department supervisors and end users as practices and workflow constraints are identified and related to system content and automation.
- Provides expertise in identification of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and its technical extraction from systems (e.g. ServiceNow, LMS).
- Supports the training team in troubleshooting classroom tools, scheduling, and acts as a point of escalation related to technical issues and questions.
- Participates in resource planning including allocation and prioritization of workload.
- Partners closely with Epic Application implementation and support teams for Tapestry and Revenue Cycle to understand system changes which impact end users and provides feedback for improvements and innovations from experiences with end users. Participates in assigned integration work groups to provide workflow observations and recommendations, offering Training specific considerations.
- Teaches and mentors new IS Training team members to achieve maximum technical competencies and overall MemorialCare training process awareness. Enhances trainer skills, knowledge transfer and classroom facilitation skills. Mentors trainers to improve knowledge and skills and lead their work.
- Directs structured learning experiences for classroom or eLearning modules. Creates monitored simulations and problem-solving scenarios for effective learning.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of education tools relating to system updates and various MemorialCare initiatives.
- Determines approaches and appropriate training methodologies for new functionality/workflows based on predetermined learning needs and objectives.
- Develops and implements Train the Trainer programs for other Learning and Development roles, super users, preceptors and support services’ caregivers. Serves as a mentor to others.
- Works closely with other developers and trainers in supporting the customer service development needs for all end user training.
- Conducts training programs for end users and assists them in the personalization of systems through the development tools, templates, and settings.
- Maintains expertise and competence in the proper operation and optimal use of assigned software applications including potential Epic modules.
